[Video]The Shining REDRUM Patterned Roll Cake – The Homicidal Homemaker Horror Cooking Show

During the winter months, when the snow is coming down and the sunlight comes out for maybe 2 hours at most, it’s high time for baking! This is the time of year when my electricity bill is through the roof from my crock pot being fired up for 8 hours and my oven on 24/7 hours. It makes the house warmer and it smells like fresh baked goods or tasty chicken.
The Homicidal Homemaker has just what you need for when you’re snowed in at home with your axe wielding lover and psychic child, this Shining inspired roll cake!

Get your bake on and make sure you follow the Homicidal Homemaker on her youtube page!

Fantastic Feasts: Jack Skellington’s Nightmare Before Christmas gingerbread house -SYFY FANGRRLS

When I was asked by my editor at FANGRRLS if I wanted to do a gingerbread house to run alongside the FANGRRLS Genrebread Contest (it runs till December 28 and you should enter!), I immediately said yes for three simple reasons:

1. I freaking love gingerbread.
2. It’s a genre contest which means I get to do my all-time favorite movie: Nightmare Before Christmas.
3. Did I mention I love gingerbread? I do.

Because gingerbread houses are traditionally considered a Christmas project, I decided to do my take on Jack Skellington’s house at the end of the film when Santa makes it snow in Halloweentown and have fun imagining how he’d decorate his place for the occasion.

Of course, the first thing I needed to do was find some good reference photos.

Luckily for me, Nightmare Before Christmas has only gotten MORE popular in the 25 years since it was released and there are lots of incredible products out there dedicated to serious NBC collectors (like myself), including this amazing replica of Jack’s house (hint hint, Secret Santa!).

Black SxS Cardamom Espresso Latte over Ice w/ Cashew Mylk – Recipe

My dearest is an avid coffee drinker. I, on the other hand, am the one who has an abundance of tea wherever one looks in my kitchen – the shelves, the cabinets or nestled amongst my herbs in apothecary jars. And while I live for my tea and leaves, he prefers the smell and taste and aromatics of the divine coffee bean. Normally, I would watch my beloved make coffee, add a plant-based creamer, kiss me softly on my cheek and carry on with his day. Well, after making this for him this mourning…..it is clear to say that he will never make coffee his way again.

Notes of cardamom woven within, along with the saltiness of the salt and sweetness of the agave that resemble caramel notes amongst the black elixir. Strong….potent…and oh, so pleasing….to the eyes and palette.

Netflix Reimagines Martha Stewart Show as a Spooky Horror Series With “The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell”

Christine McConnell first popped up on my radar when I saw a picture on Instagram of a house decorated like the face of a monster.

I decorated my parents house for Halloween 😀 🎃

A post shared by Christine McConnell (@christinehmcconnell) on

Following her Instagram was a huge source of inspiration, her whimsical 1950’s charm combined with the grotesque baked goods that she made were a delightful iconoclast. Christine herself is a stunningly beautiful woman who makes desserts that look like they should be eaten quickly, before they eat you.

She now has over 260,000 followers on her Instagram and has been hired to make treats for movies like Alien: Covenant, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and the TV show Stranger Things. She will now make her transition over into her own TV series called “The Curious Creations of Christine McConnell”, which looks like a cross over between Martha Stewart, Sesame Street and Tales from the Crypt.

So it’s right up my alley.

Watch the trailer below for the Netflix series, premiering on October 19th.
